The milestone season is gone
back to everyday living.
Except though Sept 12th I realizing I’m still living.
Still very much alive
It hits me every year I out lived you
My older brother is now my younger
and the realization leaves me confused
I still call you my older brother
but you were 24 and now I’ll be 29
I try to not let the thought even bother
but some days it’s stuck in my mind.
Who’s the oldest to between us?
I can’t make it make sense
and even my spiraling questions from depression can’t keep up.

and claimed to be “Good People of God.”

because if what they say is true they should lose their jobs.

If they really cared about the love and soul of Indigenous people
they would’ve intervened when they heard this
arrival of Europeans were now acting evil.
Men, women, and children dying from previously unknown diseases

Manifest Destiny in the “Great Name” of Jesus.
There’s so many terror stories
Sand Creek, Wounded Knee, so many untold massacres.
They said the “only good Indian is a dead Indian.”
I guessed it never occurred or they hadn’t learned
that once again, God is no Idiot.
Children ripped from their tribes and parents.
Beaten and molested at boarding schools.
They did everything to make them behave white even changing their appearance
Languages dug in mass grave like children’s bodies at the boarding schools.
All this done because they said the Indigenous were pagans and savages
Once again done in the “Glory of Your Name.”
With Fire Water and Smallpox Blankets they took advantages
to make Indigenous ashamed
and feel everything was wrong
Traditions outlawed and faded away
It’s 2021, this started 1492 – that’s how long it’s been going on
Now they kill the 1.4% of the Indigenous population with toxic waste.

If this is all for the Christian God He must be evil.
Even look at a White woman meant death – look at what they did to Emmet Till then
Even after they abolished slavery things would never be equal.
They used the “Good Book” to justify separating the races
In”God’s Greatness” they separated water fountains and restrooms
People of color had to walk a great distance to different places
just to find one to use.
Take a look at the “Good Book”
and the so called “People of God” who should’ve lost their jobs
Love That Sur-thrives

My entire life I’ve seen my mother not only survive but sur-thrive
She carries the weight of everyone’s world on her shoulders
Selfishly we rarely ask how she’s feeling inside
But my mother’s a soldier.
She keeps going far and above
Filled with hugs, jokes, and so much love.
There’s no one who has a greater heart than she does
Mom – I love you so much
Even on our bad days
I still know you love me and that I still love you
When I’m panicking because things aren’t going a certain a way
No one calms me down like you do
There’s not enough pages in a notebook or ink a pen
to express how much I do love and appreciate you.
Like it or not, you’re not only my mother but best friend
Nobody has my heart the way you do.
